The
atractive turist destination with 13,000 inhabitants was born on an
island and then in the 18 C the channel was filled up. The beautiful
town is dominated by the church of St. Euphemia, a baroque edifice
built in the 18 C. On the top of the bell tower there is the statue
of St. Euphemia which rotates on its axis, showing the weather prospects
to fishermen and town inhabitants for more than three centuries. The
arcipelago of 13 islands and islets gives a special charm to this
town and its coast. |

The town
of Poreč was founded by the Romans and its history has begun 2,000
years ago. The most significant building in Poreč and the monument
of the highest category which entered 1997 the UNESCO S World Heritage
List is Euphrasius Basilica built in 553. With its 9.000 inhabitans
Poreč today is one of the most popular tourist destination on the
western coast of Istria. |

Umag,
the pitaresque fishing town with 8.000 inhabitants is situated in
the north-west corner of the Istrian peninsula. It ancient part was
once an island and retains medieval aspect of picturesque squares
and period houses built in Gothis and early Renassance Venetian style.
There is the baroque parish church from 16 C and the detached bell
tower with a clock in the center of the town. Umag today ranks among
the leading tourists and sports centers in Croatia and has the long
term experience in organising tennis tournament which has culminated
in the CROATIA OPEN ATP Tournament. |

The
town of Pula with 60,000 inhabitants is located on the top of the
Istrian peninsula. The name Polai first appered around 3.000 years
ago and ancient poets tell of the Argonaut seamen who were the first
to settle on the peninsula. The excellently preserved Roman Amphiteatre
from the 1st C A..D., the fifth largest amphiteatre in the World,
is still the point of atraction for live events. Other impressive
buildings from that period: the Temple of Augustus, The Arch of the
Sergij and the Town Gate. |

the 30 km-long coast, stretching from Volosko to Moąćenićka Draga
and Brseč, there are a lot of hotels, restaurants, cafés, clubs, shops
